Large Viking Battle Axe with Carvings of Odin and Thor on its Shaft
Introducing "UBBE," a heavy-bearded battle axe inspired by archaeological finds.
Its long oak shaft is adorned with hand-carved depictions of Odin and Thor, meticulously crafted using traditional tools. Being my first attempt at carving, it boasts a rustic, crude finish that complements the desired rough and well-handled aesthetic of the piece. The shaft stands at 950 mm and is finished with Shou Sugi Ban (burning technique).
The axe head, hand-forged by Jiri Skorepa | Brennus in the Czech Republic, is based on Danish-style museum pieces, measuring 200 x 200 mm.
