A Budget Dueling Sword Reimagined as a 15th & 16th Century Medieval Arming Sword
The sword began its journey as an ordinary and affordable dueling weapon, lacking historical accuracy with its chrome surfaces and industrial finishes. It was a blank canvas..
With the goal of achieving a more authentic 15th & 16th century aesthetic, significant changes were made. The guard and pommel were reshaped into more intricate forms and refinished using traditional hand tools. The handle underwent a complete remake, adorned with hand-stitched goat leather to replace the original leatherette. The blade was also reworked, featuring a new cross-section with two fullers.
To complete the transformation, a simple yet functional leather scabbard was crafted from robust black cow leather. It includes an integral belt attachment constructed in a traditional manner, ensuring practicality and historical authenticity.
